Gobelsburg “Cistercien“ Rosé 2016
Rosé is hot and trendy right now, and there are so many to choose from...this is absolutely my very favorite rosé this year
A unique proprietary blend of Pinot Noir, St. Laurent and Zweigelt (3 different red varietals)
Tasting notes: Super lively and mouthwatering with a tongue-tickling spritz; fresh cut cucumber and Asian pear aromas with a hint of sweet melon; long, clean finish with subtle chalky minerality that’s vibrant and almost crunchy in texture!
Domaine Faiveley Bourgogne Blanc 2013
Every now and then, the stars align perfectly....as is the case with this beautiful white Burgundy!
Tasting notes: Rising bread dough and blanched hazelnut aromas lead, followed by notes of unbaked apple pie, lemon oil, and a minerality marked with clay and limestone earthiness.
The 2013 white Burgundy is pure Chardonnay that tastes like Grand Cru Chablis....miles above its pedigree and price! About 30% of the final blend sees time in a perfect blend of new and used oak barrels.
Hourglass “HGIII” Red Blend 2014
A truly remarkable Napa Valley Red
One of the most impressive Napa Valley wineries I have had the pleasure of learning about is Hourglass. They focus on Bordeaux varietals with respect
to both their inspiration and their terroir. Tasted not just once or twice but 3 times, I can attest to their truly phenomenal Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, and most recently their red blend.
Tasting Notes: The 2014 is 76% Merlot which provides the smooth & velvety texture while addition of Cabernet Sauvignon adds core structure and extended finish, and the “secret sauce” of Petit Sirah is added for depth of lush fruit and layering (the “III” of HG III):Aged 20 months in both new and used French oak barrels
